Weekend with Aerial Sling Expert: Matthew Armenta!

How is the sling different from the aerial yoga hammock? Our studio is rigged as a double point system, this gives students greater stability and space throughout class. The sling is rigged as a single point hammock on a spinner; this makes balances more complicated and opens the possibility for more dynamic movement in the hammock. Students that have taken 1-2 years of aerial in the double point system will learn a great deal in a beginner slings workshop.

Salto Drops!

January 25th

2:00-3:30 pm

Take your aerial practice to a whole new level in this drops workshop!

What is a drop?

In a drop, a student will wrap themselves in the aerial hammock so they can let go of the swing and 'drop' down into a new position. Drops can be big and dramatic or very small.

Are drops safe?

Drops can be very dangerous when not practiced correctly. Desert Air Yoga will provide students with 8 inch thick 'crash mats' to ensure safety. Wraps are specifically designed so that students will safely land in a new position in the swing. Students will build muscle memory for the drop before ever performing it. Under the guidance of an experienced aerialist drops are not only safe, but also EXHILARATING.

Each drops workshop will focus on a different 'style' of drop. As students become more familiar with drops they can build up to more complex drops.
